Mar Ortega is the founder and designer behind Make and Recover, a sustainable design brand focused on transforming discarded materials into new textiles, wearable objects, and fiber art. As a certified rescue diver and artist, she draws inspiration from the ocean that has profoundly influenced her life. Her work reflects a deep connection to the marine world, blending creativity with a dedication to sustainability and ocean conservation. Through reclaimed fabrics, free-motion embroidery, and circular design practices, her work explores how waste can be reimagined as a resource rather than an endpoint. 

Mar attended the Fashion Institute of technology earning her certification in Sustainable Design for Entrepreneurs in 2020. She is a proud mom of two kids who absolutely love distracting her with their cute little hands, eager to help with all the crafts.
